North Reading is a quaint suburban town in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, located 18 miles north of Boston. Created as an independent town in 1853, it retains several well-preserved houses dating back to 1730. The town center retains its historic fabric with a Federal style meeting house and an affluent Federal village with a well-preserved district of period houses.

The population was 15,710 at the 2019 census. The owner-occupied housing rate, 2013 – 2017 is 85.5%. North Reading is bordered by Reading, Wilmington, Andover, Middleton, and is easily accessible to Interstate 93 which is a straight route to Boston.

There are several points of interest in North Reading. Harold Parker State Forest is a publicly owned forest with recreational features encompassing more than 3,300 acres in the towns of Andover, North Andover, North Reading, and Middleton, Massachusetts. The park is used for hiking, fishing and camping. Ipswich River Park is a public recreation area with grassy spaces, picnic facilities, athletic fields & walking trails. Of historical importance, the Rev. Daniel Putnam House, built in 1720, is a historic late First Period colonial house at 27 Bow Street in North Reading, Massachusetts. It is a 2-1/2 story wood frame structure, five bays wide, with a side gable roof, central chimney, and a Federal/Greek Revival entry surround.
